Dr. Thomas Lickona
Dr. Thomas Lickona is a developmental psychologist and Professor of Childhood/Early Childhood Education at the State University of New York at Cortland, where he directs the Center for the 4th and 5th Rs (Respect and Responsibility) (www.cortland.edu/character) and co-directs the Smart & Good Schools Initiative with Matthew Davidson of the Institute for Excellence & Ethics.

His books on character development include Moral Development and Behavior; Raising Good Children; Educating for Character; Sex, Love & You: Making the Right Decision; Character Matters; and, with Matthew Davidson, Character Quotations and Smart & Good High Schools.

Educating for Character won a Christopher Award for “affirming the highest values of the human spirit.” The Journal of Research in Character Education praised Smart & Good High Schools as “a brilliant blend of research, conceptual clarity, and real-world practices.”

In 2001 Dr. Lickona received the “Sandy Award” for Lifetime Achievement in Character Education from the Character Education Partnership. He and his wife Judith live in Cortland, New York, and have 12 grandchildren.
Fr. Thomas Ward
Rev. Thomas I. Ward is a Catholic priest for the diocese of Syracuse and the dedicated pastor of two parishes in rural up-state New York. Under his pastoral charge are the parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church in Greene as well as the parishioners of St. Joseph Church in Oxford.

Fr. Ward is a gifted homilist and engaging public speaker. Ordained to the priesthood in June of 1997, Fr. Ward has been in active ministry for more than ten years and has served in his present assignment as pastor of souls for seven years. In the Diocese of Syracuse, he has been chaplain for the Commission on Women in Church and in Society as well as the chaplain to the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, New York. He is a counselor in the pastoral care program Courage, a program for men and women who struggle with same sex atraction. Fr. Ward also serves as moderator and spiritual guide for Third Order Dominicans and chaplain for the local chapter of the New York State Right to Life.

Fr. Ward has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theology, with a minor in philosophy from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. He has also earned a pontifical degree, a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology and Master of Divinity degree from Saint Mary’s Seminary.
Fr. Timothy Gallagher
Father Timothy M. Gallagher, O.M.V., was ordained in 1979 as a member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, a religious community dedicated to retreats and spiritual formation according to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. He obtained his doctorate in 1983 from the Gregorian University. He has taught (St. John's Seminary, Brighton, MA; Our Lady of Grace Seminary Residence, Boston, MA), assisted in formation work for twelve years, and served two terms as provincial in his own community. He has dedicated many years to an extensive ministry of retreats, spiritual direction, and teaching about the spiritual life. He has published a series of books on the spiritual teaching of St. Ignatius of Loyola: The Discernment of Spirits, The Examen Prayer, Spiritual Consolation, An Ignatian Introduction to Prayer, Meditation and Contemplation, and Discerning the Will of God (forthcoming, 2009).
Rev. Charles Connor
Rev. Charles P. Connor was ordained in 1990 for the diocese of Scranton, PA after receiving his formation at the North American College in Rome.

Father obtained a Ph.D. in U S History from Fordham University and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. His STD and MA in Theology are from the Gregorian and Angelicum Universities in Rome.

In the Scranton diocese, Father has been pastor of St. John the Evangelist and St. Rose of Lima parishes, and rector of St. Peter’s Cathedral. He has written many books including Defenders of the Faith in Word and Deed and The Saint for the Third Millennium: St. Therese of Lisieux. He has co-produced many series for EWTN including “The Sacraments through the Ages” and “Edith Stein: An Historical Perspective”.

Presently Father is continuing his studies in Washington, DC at the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family.
